Remedial Massage

Jane Hilson has been a Massage Therapist since 1998. Jane holds a degree in Health Science (naturopathy) and is undertaking a Masters program in Acupuncture. As a remedial Massage Therapist, Jane works from the premise that musculo skeletal health has wider implications for the efficient functioning of all body systems. Jane’s treatment aims to identify and treat the cause of muscular dysfunction. Once this is achieved, management through lifestyle changes and self care maintenance can be approached with lasting benefits. Your consultation will involve a thorough case history and massage treatment. Jane uses a variety of techniques including myofacial release, cross fiber friction, acupressure, cupping and facilitated stretching.

Michelle has been working the health industry for over 20 years and finds being able to combine her nursing experience with remedial massage a real benefit when it comes to assessing and treating her clients. Michelle likes to use therapies such as myofascial release, trigger point therapy, cupping and stretching as a basis for achieving the desired results. Michelle likes to work with each individual client to reach the best possible outcomes to enhance their well-being and health.

She offers short courses in Homoeopathy in the community and is currently studying for her Master’s degree in Homoeopathy at UCLan (UK).

Dr John Chan comes from a Traditional Chinese Medicine family and has over 20 years experience in Acupuncture, Chinese Herbs and Remedial Massage. At your first consultation, John will take your case history gaining information about the presenting symptoms. A measure of your body’s general constitution is gained through tongue and pulse diagnosis. John will then design a treatment aimed at restoring physical balance and neurological harmony. Acupuncture is an effective treatment for both acute and chronic muscular, visceral and nervous system conditions. Your treatment will take 30-45 minutes and may involve acupuncture, prescribing of herbal medicine and remedial massage.

Osteopath
Dr Prue Stirling B App Sci (Comp Med)/Masters of Osteopathy
We are very pleased to welcome Dr Prue Stirling, Osteopath to Emerald Remedial Therapies. Prue joins us having returned from 2 1/2 years in Auckland where she worked in a large osteopathic clinic while doing further studies in osteopathy in the cranial field. This is a gentle and non-invasive technique which is safe and effective to treat and improve the health of infants, pregnant women and the elderly. A variety of other hands-on techniques including but not limited to joint manipulation, myofascial release and massage may be used, to assist you with your complaint.
Osteopathy is well-known for treating musculo-skeltal conditions, however was designed as a full medical system in its on right. Osteopaths are trained to perform medical examinations of the abdomen, chest and joints, recognising serious medical conditions and refer to other medical practitionsers where appropriate. Often osteopathy can be used in conjunction with other therapies to improve the health and functioning of all areas of the body.

Yoga
Robyn Jacobs
Robyn found yoga through private practice during pregnancy in 1992. She completed her yoga teaching diploma in 1997 and has been teaching regular classes in the hills for thirteen years. Robyn has more recently been studying yoga therapy under Leigh Blashki. Robyn’s approach to yoga is dynamic and classes are tailored to meet individual needs of clients. Through yoga, she helps people return to well-being and ‘wholeness’. Robyn’s workshops run throughout the year and she is also available for private consultation.
